Voted 2024 and 2025 Family Favorite Child Care Center, Young Scholars Academy is a trusted early childhood education program in Baton Rouge, grounded in a Growth Mindset philosophy and a deep commitment to developing confident, capable learners.
What makes your program unique?
We believe childhood should be purposeful, joyful, and thoughtfully designed. Our programs support the whole child—academically, socially, emotionally, and creatively—while also supporting the whole family. Families choose Young Scholars because they feel the difference: a strong school culture, intentional instruction, and a team that truly knows and cares for their child.
How have you expanded to meet the needs of families?
In addition to Young Scholars Academy, we’ve proudly launched Young Scholars Enrichment, our newly expanded campus located right next door. At Young Scholars Enrichment, Growth Mindsets Expand through before and after care, holiday care, school-closure care, and summer camp. We place a strong emphasis on homework support, giving families the gift of evenings spent connecting—rather than managing assignments.
Young Scholars Enrichment laid the groundwork for our very first school garden, now enjoyed by students from both campuses. Children help grow fruits, vegetables, and herbs—and choose what they’d like to taste-test. Our chef, Ms. Wanda Jones, prepares those ingredients into kid-friendly meals, allowing children to experience learning through food, wellness, and hands-on discovery. Everything we do is intentional and connected.
How are you involved in the community?
Young Scholars actively collaborates with organizations such as EBR Ready Start Network, Ready Louisiana, Geaux Far Louisiana, 4PXP, LAAEYC, and the Childcare Association of Louisiana. Megan Garretson was honored as 2024 Provider of the Year by 4PXP. Megan and Ashley were also recognized by the Louisiana Department of Education as Leader of the Year Finalists, reflecting their commitment to strengthening early childhood education across Louisiana. Looking ahead, Megan was elected President of LAAEYC (Louisiana Association for the Education of Young Children for 2026, further advancing leadership in early childhood education statewide.
