Pediatric Therapy Solutions

Celebrating their 11-year anniversary this year, Pediatric Therapy Solutions was built on a foundation of helping little people do BIG things. Servicing children of all ages and abilities, owner and occupational therapist, Danielle Saunders Mixon, opened Pediatric Therapy Solutions after overcoming challenges with her own child, and seeing a growing need in the community. Pediatric Therapy Solutions started as a single person operation and has grown to a team of over 40 with a variety of disciplines and specialties.

The PTS facility is home to the only pediatric therapy clinic in Ascension parish that offers physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy to children of all ages. With over 8,000 square feet, the facility is nothing short of impressive. The PTS clinic has 17 individual treatment rooms, three classrooms, a large sensory gym with an indoor zipline and ball pits, and an expansive outdoor space for children to learn and grow. While children attend therapy, parents can wait in the large, relaxing waiting room or sit on the café style seating on the front patio. 

The outdoor area has a large playground that can be used by children of all ages and abilities, a fruit and vegetable garden that’s watered by the patients, and the food grown is used for snacks and feeding therapy. One of the fun and unique features of the back yard is the famous fence of multiple murals! PTS was blessed to have a local artist, the same artist that designed the Canes logo, come to PTS to paint their fence for all to enjoy for years to come. 

The PTS mission is at the heart of everything done there, so it’s proudly displayed in the waiting room for all to see when entering the front door. 

In addition to offering occupational therapy, speech therapy, and physical therapy, Pediatric Therapy Solutions is also home to a unique therapeutic learning environment, Play and Learn Therapeutic Preschool. In this setting, students who need extra support to be successful in the classroom thrive in small class sizes with experienced teachers and therapists. Children are provided with a multitude of learning opportunities to prepare them for success in kindergarten. Teachers and therapists collaborate on each child to ensure that children are taught in ways that they learn best, and are making progress toward their goals.

At Pediatric Therapy Solutions, education and lifelong learning are valued, and team members often host students to train the next generation of therapists. Pediatric Therapy Solutions was honored to receive the Outstanding Fieldwork Educator Award for doctorate students in the occupational therapy program at Baylor University. 

Always looking for ways to give back to the community, Pediatric Therapy Solutions hosts a multitude of free educational workshops for the community, including Calming Workshops where parents are taught ways to improve self-regulation with their children at home. Other free events hosted at Pediatric Therapy Solutions include an annual Trick-or-Treat Night for children of all ages and abilities to enjoy a night of trick-or-treating, crafts, and games. Danielle also loves to open the impressive PTS playground to the community on weekends when she can.
